Why the Captains are Going to Take Market Share

The more and more I work with Kitchen and Bath Dealers and see the leaders of the company spending almost all their time consumed by the day to day activities, the more I understand why implementing change is so hard for their companies. They are in the boat rowing as hard as they can to keep things moving forward but can’t make the progress they would like to.

The problem is that no one is steering the ship to adjust to the changing times. Look, I get it 100%. Been there, done that! The urgent always takes precedence over the important (like implementing new things). When talking with leaders, they always say that they are too busy right now but will get around to it. Unfortunately, that time rarely ever comes.

I do have hope though. There are also a number of K & B companies that we partner with that have leaders that are looking to the future and putting on their Captain’s hat and steering the ship according to changes in the market. They are avoiding the iceberg  of “that’s the way we’ve always done it” and embracing changes in the customer experience, technology, training and process improvement.

These leaders will certainly be the ones that are growing their businesses and taking market share.

So, take some time to stop rowing the ship and spend more of it steering instead. I think you’ll find it worth your while.
